Week after week, data breach headlines abound. Most recently, it’s the California Department of Managed Health Care apologizing for an incident where 18,000 doctors’ Social Security numbers were released. But at least one expert is suggesting organizations “stop thinking about breach prevention, accept they’re going to be breached, change their mindset, and think about how they will protect and store their data.” That’s according to SafeNet’s Jason Hart, quoted in an Infosecurity report where he discusses the importance of such protocols as two-factor authentication. He suggests “it would be ‘really cool’ if, one day, organizations that publicly disclose breaches do so willingly, and highlight the fact that they are ‘secure breaches’ where the data was protected,” the report states.
