The hearing on the “Accounting for Disclosures” policy mandated by the HITECH Act included comments from various stakeholders. Patient Privacy Rights’ Deborah Peel “recommended that regulators require health IT developers to provide open access to logs that record every instance a patient's digital health information is accessed or shared over a network,” the report states, while “doctors, insurers and software developers said such a policy is not feasible.” The committee is currently scheduled to meet October 9.
