Council of Ministers Proposes “Personal Data” Revision

The EU Council of Ministers has proposed an amendment to the European Commission’s draft General Data Protection Regulation that would redefine what constitutes personal data, reports. According to the proposed revision, “If identification requires a disproportionate amount of time, effort or material resources, the natural living person shall not be considered identifiable.” The council also proposed an amendment to the scope of when the regulation would apply to information, the report states.
