In an IDG News Service report, Cameron Scott writes that when it comes to protecting privacy, "the rapidly growing mobile space is still the Wild West, with an almost endless landscape of privacy pitfalls that challenge even the most vigilant consumer." Spotlighting the amount of personal data collected on mobile phones, the report quotes Jules Polonetsky, CIPP/US, of the Future of Privacy Forum as stating that regarding privacy protection, "The industry tools don't even exist yet" and opting out is "nearly impossible."
