Industry Reacts to Working Party’s Opinion

In the wake of the Article 29 Working Party's announcement last week that industry efforts to comply with EU data protection rules are inadequate, the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) has weighed in, the Financial Times reports. The IAB, which created its YourOnlineChoices.eu website as part of a plan for members to comply with the e-Privacy Directive, has indicated it will consider the Working Party's recommendations, the report states, noting its vice president's comments that there has been a "misunderstanding" about the role of the website, which is meant to be one piece of members' overall compliance with the directive.
