Garante to Investigate Call Centres' Compliance

The Italian Data Protection Authority has extended its investigation of major telephone operators to include call centre service providers located outside the country. Rocco Panetta of Panetta & Associati in Rome tells the IAPP Europe Data Protection Digest that the Garante will look into the centres' compliance with data protection rules--particularly those related to the processing of employee data, data protection outsourcing arrangements and international data transfers.
