Lenovo is offering free software that allows PC owners to remotely disable their laptops in the event it is lost or stolen. Using the company's Constant Secure Remote Disable service, PC owners can send a text message, aka "kill command," to the computer and render it inoperative.
The service works as long as the laptop has a working cellular data card and paid data plan with a carrier for the remote disable service. It is expected to help companies protect private data and ensure compliance policies.
