Rosa Maria Franco Velázquez joined Basham, Ringe y Correa, S.C., in 2007 as an associate in the intellectual property area. Previously, she worked for other specialized IP law firms, such as Calderon y de la Sierra, Soto Escalante y Pontones and Bello, Gallardo, Morales y Tsuru.
Since 2010, Franco Velázquez has actively participated in the creation and development of the firm’s privacy and data protection area. She assists the local and multinational clients of the firm, including pharmaceutical companies and product and service providers.
Franco Velázquez is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the International Trademark Association, the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property and the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (Asociación Mexicana para la Propiedad Intelectual), where she is the coordinator of the Information Technologies Committee.
Franco Velázquez speaks Spanish, English and German (basic). She graduated with honors from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in 2003. In 2006, she received an LLM degree from the George Washington University Law School. She has studied various intellectual property courses, and in 2009 obtained a diploma in information technology and communications law from ITAM. Her main area of concentration is intellectual property and data protection.
