Ulrika Dellrud, CIPP/E, is an attorney with 15 years of practical experience in the fields of data protection, privacy, government relations and information technology. She has divided this time between Brussels and Washington, DC. Dellrud is a member of the New York bar and a Swedish citizen.
Dellrud currently holds the position of corporate privacy officer for Novartis International AG and is based in Switzerland. She provides legal advice and counsel to corporate functions and to local, global and cross-divisional data protection and privacy issues and projects. Dellrud previously led the privacy and compliance department of Iron Mountain for the wider Europe region as its European corporate privacy and compliance counsel. She also served as its European government affairs representative. Prior to joining Iron Mountain, she worked for eight years with General Electric Company in its corporate international law and policy team, where she served as legal counsel for data protection, regulation and government relations. Before joining GE, she was in private practice both in Brussels and Washington, DC.
Dellrud’s broad experience in data protection and privacy covers a wide range of operational, compliance, regulatory and policy matters. As one of the drafters of GE’s binding corporate rules (BCRs), she led the approval process of the BCRs in the individual EU member states, acquiring an in-depth knowledge of their approval processes. She is also extensively involved in industry data protection advocacy efforts, a member of different associations, working groups and task forces, and a frequent speaker on privacy and data protection topics.
Dellrud is a graduate of Stockholm and Georgetown Universities and has also pursued advanced European legal studies at the College of Europe in Bruges. She is one of 10 members of the executive committee of the Georgetown University European Law Alumni Advisory Board, a member of the EU Advisory Board and the European Certification Advisory Board of the IAPP, and a contributor to Nymity’s research program.
