CIPP/G Test Center Exam
Please note that on March 7, 2014, the CIPP/G exam will become an 80-minute, 72-item objective test. The test will include 60 scored items and 12 non-scored trial items. If you plan to schedule your exam on or after that date, please make sure to take into account the new length of the exam.
The Certified Information Privacy Professional/Government (CIPP/G) addresses U.S. government privacy laws, regulations and policies specific to government practice as well as those more broadly applicable to the public and private sectors in the U.S. It also covers U.S. government-standard practices for privacy program development and management, privacy compliance and auditing, records management and agency reporting obligations for privacy. First time candidates for any CIPP certification must also pass the Certification Foundation exam in order to obtain a certification. Existing CIPPs do not need to take the Foundation exam. You must be an IAPP member in order to register for a CIPP exam.
The IAPP offers test center examinations with computer-based delivery through Kryterion's High-stakes Online Secured Testing (HOST) locations
, which includes hundreds of testing centers around the world. Following payment of examination fees through the IAPP website, you will be directed to Kryterion's website for HOST location and exam date and time selection.
Exams are offered year round. Date and time availability varies depending on HOST center location, and candidates are encouraged to register as early as possible to guarantee a seat. Please note that testing centers may only have dates available within 90 days in advance of the current date.
You are allowed 70 minutes to complete the CIPP/G exam. If you are also registering for the Certification Foundation exam, both exams can be purchased in one transaction but scheduled separately. If you are taking both exams on the same day at a Kryterion HOST location, you will need to allow 90 minutes for the Certification Foundation and 70 minutes for the CIPP/G exam.
NOTE: If you require special accommodations because of a qualifying disability, you must submit an Exam Accommodations Request, complete with documentation, at least 30 days in advance of the date you wish to test. Please do not schedule a test center exam session until your request has been approved by the IAPP
