NIST Releases Preliminary Cybersecurity Framework
CYBERSECURITY—U.S.October 23, 2013
After a short delay caused by the partial U.S. government shutdown, the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Informational Technology Laboratory has released the Preliminary Cybersecurity Framework required under President Barack Obama’s executive order, “Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity,” of February 2013. NIST will shortly open a 45-day comment period on the preliminary framework, which will be posted here. Comments can be submitted at firstname.lastname@example.org in Word or Excel format. The feedback is vital and at the top of the document NIST outlines the types of questions they’d like answered, including issues of cost-effective implementation and existing best practices.
