Companies that send spam texts, make silent phone calls or clog inboxes with junk e-mails could escape prosecution because of a legal ruling, Information Commissioner Christopher Graham has warned. Graham’s concerns follow the case of Tetrus Telecoms, which was originally fined 440,000 GBP, “but won on appeal after a tribunal ruled the text messages were only a minor nuisance,” Daily Mail reports. Graham, who is calling for the law to be changed, said unsolicited calls and messages comprise “one of the great curses of the age … We could show there was nuisance—that isn’t enough apparently.”
