Twenty-six web conferences scheduled for 2014, on important news of the day and practical, on-the-ground privacy

At the International Association of Privacy Professionals, you, our members, come first. Central to our mission of promoting the privacy profession around the globe is delivering world-class education, training and tools to help privacy professionals increase their skill level and thus their value to their respective organizations.
As part of that commitment, the IAPP has long delivered web conferences that complement the many in-person events and opportunities that we offer, alongside publications and resources, both printed and online. Those web conferences are known throughout the industry for the valuable information they provide both on the most important new legal and regulatory developments in the privacy industry and on the day-to-day implementation of privacy practices that help you respond to those developments.
Now, for the first time, the IAPP has announced an integrated suite of web conferences that will allow you to access far more of this valuable content for free and provide an opportunity for certified members to acquire up to 14 free Continuing Privacy Education hours in 2014.
Our full schedule of programs, organized by our crack programming team of Knowledge Manager Dave Cohen, CIPP/US, and Knowledge Coordinator Charley Suter, CIPP/US, will be posted on our website shortly after the new year. The new suite of programs breaks down into the following categories:
• Insight Series: These 90-minute programs are live broadcast web conferences with archived recordings and feature leading experts in the field discussing the most important topical issues of the day at a high level of discourse with a significant opportunity for Q&A. Each is eligible for 1.5 CPEs. Like our current offerings, the 12 Insight Web Conferences will cost $159 each for members and $179 for nonmembers.
Each Insight Series Web Conference will also deliver a whitepaper exclusive to attendees two weeks following the event.
• Access Series: Completely free to IAPP members, these hour-long, prerecorded presentations by veterans of the privacy field preview and reprise the top-rated programming at our in-person events and offer practical advice for conducting your privacy program. All 10 of these programs will grant one CPE each and be offered on-demand over the course of the year. They will also be available to nonmembers for $119.
• Innovation Series: These four sponsored programs, offered in live, hour-long web conference format, focus on the application of the newest privacy technology, brought to you by the companies on the leading edge of the market. These programs grant one CPE each, have a Q&A portion and are offered free of charge. These programs will also be archived if you’re unable to attend the live broadcast.
We hope you will take advantage of these new opportunities for education to help you with your day-to-day operations and to further augment the body of knowledge developed through CIPP or CIPM certification.
Should you have any questions about the program content or CPEs for the web conferences, please contact Publications Director Sam Pfeifle or Membership and Customer Relations Director Kimberly MacNeill, CIPP/US.
