San Francisco Chronicle reports on Facebook’s new guide for survivors of domestic abuse, suggesting how to protect privacy and safety while using the social network. Facebook was advised on the guide by the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), which sits on Facebook’s advisory board. “It’s not acceptable to tell survivors of domestic violence just to give up their technology,” said NNEDV Vice President Cindy Southworth. “What she really needs is that he not be able to contact her, and if he does, that he is held accountable.” Editor’s Note: The IAPP recently published an exclusive interview with the NNEDV’s Southworth.
