Ticking down through many “challenges” to comprehending Australia’s laws, Leonard writes, “At a time when privacy and information security is becoming a major area of concern for governments, businesses and consumers, it is unfortunate that Australia has created such a confusing thicket of regulation and quasi regulation.” Meanwhile, Queensland is conducting a review aimed at eliminating “unjustified” compliance burdens and barriers to data sharing in Australia’s “patchwork” of privacy and freedom of information laws.
