The well-publicized European high court right-to-be-forgotten decision is creating ample opportunity for European organizations in the business of online reputation management, The New York Times reports. Hit Search, for example, a UK-based service that helps its customers monitor their online profiles across the Internet, has seen an uptick in consumer demand. “It’s a whole new business opportunity for us,” said the company’s director. “People want to protect how they appear in search results.” One data protection attorney said, “A lot of reputation management companies are jumping on the bandwagon … Anyone who comes to us with a privacy problem, this legal decision is something new in our toolbox.” (Registration may be required to access this story.)
