John McAfee was located in Guatemala after a photo of him—which contained embedded details about his specific longitudinal and latitudinal location—was posted to the web by journalists. A hacker was able to unveil the embedded details. Privacy experts say smartphone users frequently have no idea how easily their mobile data may be collected, shared or stolen. The rules governing mobile data are “few and often unclear,” the report states.
