In a column for The Wall Street Journal, Andrea Renda writes that proposals will be considered this December at the World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT) that could "grant authority for Internet governance to the United Nations and impose new regulations on web traffic," adding, "If adopted, these proposals could upend the web as we know it..." Renda also notes, "Privacy and security are also at risk due to a lack of adequate legal tools and coordination mechanisms," many of which would be international.
