Commissioner To Investigate Website Glitch
DATA LOSS—AUSTRALIADecember 12, 2011
The Australian privacy commissioner says his office has launched a formal investigation into the most recent Telstra breach, ZDNet reports. The commissioner has asked the company for a detailed written report on the incident, including what information was compromised and what action the company is taking to prevent a similar occurrence in the future. Customers are encouraged to call Telstra and provide personal information to regain control of their accounts, and the company has reset the passwords of some 60,000, the report states. The Australian Communications Consumer Action Network is urging those affected to file a complaint with the privacy commissioner.
