Site Introduces New Privacy Features

SOCIAL NETWORKING

September 30, 2011

Music streaming site Spotify has introduced new privacy features in the wake of complaints about its integration with the world's largest social network, the Financial Times reports. The music service had "quietly introduced the requirement that all new users sign up with a Facebook account rather than the usual e-mail" and "defaulted to sharing all a user's listening habits," the report states. While users could choose to opt out of sharing their music tastes through Facebook, in response to "hundreds of complaints," Spotify's CEO has announced a new "private listening" mode, noting, "we value feedback and will make changes based on it."
