"It comes down to meaningful consent, which entails informed consent," said Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart, who has taken on industry giants in her efforts to protect consumer privacy. Delaying breach notification, according to the report, puts consumers at risk as they continue to use compromised websites and, at times, allows companies to downplay breaches.
