The new security strategy aims to bolster the nation against cyber attacks and create more initiatives for improved online security in the public and private sectors. In a press release, Shroff cites a survey that shows New Zealanders are "alarmed about the safety of their personal information online." She said she looks forward "to learning how implementation of the strategy will support existing efforts...to provide people and businesses with information about how to protect themselves."
