Speaking at an Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) event, Microsoft's Rik van der Kooi recommended that industry move to address privacy issues centered on online tracking, The Wall Street Journal reports. Consumers have been left out of the discussion in what he described as "the digital equivalent of Don't Ask Don't Tell," resulting in an erosion of users' trust of the Internet. He went on to say that industry is at a crossroads and must establish frameworks to manage consumer data or face government regulation.
