"Shop at an online store, and the store may track you," the report suggests, highlighting the push for a do-not-track list online to mirror the federal do-not-call telemarketing list. Meanwhile, the makers of Web browser Firefox are exploring their own mechanism to allow users to avoid being tracked online. The House Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection Subcommittee is scheduled to discuss the feasibility of establishing a do-not-track list at a hearing on Thursday.
