The Sydney Morning Herald examines the "next big thing" in the IT world--cloud computing. By some estimates, 20 percent of organizations will have moved to the cloud by 2012. The article looks at the main privacy and security concerns associated with the cloud, such as the potential for breaching data privacy legislation, cross-border data transfer requirements and other compliance challenges. "It is no wonder, then, that the CIOs of many financial services businesses, in particular, are proceeding with caution," the report states.
