The government has reintroduced its anti-spam legislation, Bill C-28, the Fighting Internet and Wireless Spam Act (FISA), after addressing concerns raised during the review of a similar bill that died in parliament last year, reports The Lawyers Weekly. Lynn Meahan,  press secretary for Industry Minister Tony Clement, said, FISA is meant to "deter the most damaging and deceptive forms of spam from occurring in Canada, creating a more secure online environment." The bill addresses spam, the undesired installation of spyware and malware and the alteration of transmission data, the report states. A spokesman for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, which raised objections to the original bill, said, "Our concerns were fully addressed" and added that the national business organization is supportive of the new legislation.
