In the wake of concerns about how the world's largest social networking site shares user information, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is promising his company will make it simpler for users to control their data on the Internet, The Washington Post reports. Meanwhile, Google has announced it is adding Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption to its search engine following the admission it accidentally collected user data from unsecured WiFi networks across the globe. From Europe to Australia, officials and advocacy groups are calling for investigations, and in the U.S., the Electronic Privacy Information Center suggests Google broke federal wiretapping laws by collecting residential data. "Thanks to both Google and Facebook, we have all the elements of a perfect privacy storm," said Jeffrey Chester of the Center for Digital Democracy.
