Hackers Breach Payroll Company
DATA THEFT— U.S.February 5, 2010
A Minnesota payroll company is changing all customer passwords after discovering a security breach, MPR News reports. The company is also offering identity theft protection for all affected employees. Officials at Ceridian Corp. said a hacker broke into its pay system and although there have been no signs that the information--including Social Security and bank account numbers--of some 27,000 people has been used to make illegal transactions, it isn't taking chances. "Clearly, any time any data is breached it's a concern," a company spokesperson said. "Even one employee is too many."
