Federal Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart is accepting public input on the ways personal information on social networking sites can lead to the tracking and targeting of consumers, the Globe and Mail reports. Stoddart says the focus is on "issues that we feel pose a serious challenge to the privacy of consumers, now and in the near future." In preparation for Parliament's review of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, Stoddart is accepting written submissions through March 15. The Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic is praising the plan, which also includes public discussion panels to be held in Toronto in April and Montreal in May.
