Defense Rests in Milan
ONLINE PRIVACY—ITALYJanuary 4, 2010
Lawyers for Google made their final remarks in a Milan court late last month in the criminal case against four company executives accused of privacy violations. The case stems from the posting of a disparaging video to the company's Italian You Tube site. The New York Times reports that on December 23 attorneys for the company told the judge that Google has a mechanism in place for removing objectionable videos, and that the video at the heart of the case was removed as soon as company officials learned of its existence. Prosecutors have requested jail terms for those charged. Proceedings will continue on January 27 and a ruling could come at that time.
