Schools Account for 25% of Data Breaches
Experts at a higher-education computer security conference this spring said that one in four data security breaches involves educational institutions. In a talk about the growing prevalence of cyber fraud and identity theft, Brian Foster of Symantec Corp. told those assembled at the Educause/Internet2 conference that "the education sector accounts for the majority of data leakages with 24 percent of all breaches, followed closely by the government," according to eSchool News.
