Survey Says… Americans Think Healthcare IT Should Be Top-of-Mind for Next President

More than half the respondents in a Kaiser Permanente study conducted in May feel that the nation's next president should make healthcare IT a big focus. Fifty-one percent of those surveyed said the next president should ensure that Americans have electronic access to their medical records.

The results were made public during National Health IT Week in June.

Other key findings included:

  • 65 percent of respondents have gone online to learn about a medical condition
  • 61 percent prefer insurance companies that employ electronic health records (EHRs)
  • 47 percent prefer doctors who use EHRs
