Excitement is building for the IAPP's conference in Toronto as members heed advice to register early and the events gain media coverage.

Secure Destruction Business Magazine has taken a keen interest in informing their readers of the IAPP Privacy Academy 2006, Oct. 17-20, in Toronto. In its Aug. 21 story, SDB Magazine ran an article, "Toronto to Host Privacy Academy," which noted that the event will draw "privacy professionals from across Canada and around the world … for four days of lively panel discussions, networking forums, working groups and featured keynotes from top policymakers and corporate leaders in the privacy industry."

Two days later, the magazine informed its readers that the IAPP and HP "have joined together to issue a call for entries in the fourth annual Privacy Innovation Awards."

The article quoted J. Trevor Hughes, the IAPP's Executive Director, and HP's Chief Privacy Officer, Scott Taylor.

"The award serves as a catalyst for privacy-centric organizational innovation and transformation," Taylor was quoted as saying in the SDB Magazine story. "When privacy is considered in business decisions, it drives consumer satisfaction, improved customer relationships and competitive advantages through long-term trust. This award brings forward some of the best ideas and practices in our field - which benefits everyone."
