Chapell & Associates, the leading strategic consulting firm focusing on privacy, marketing and public policy, is proud to announce that Elise Berkower has joined the firm as the Executive Vice President of Privacy Strategy.

Berkower comes to Chapell & Associates after nearly six years as DoubleClick's Privacy Compliance Officer. Before coming to DoubleClick, she served as the Director of Adjudication at the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, where she ran the agency's "court," supervising its administrative law judges and presiding over some of the agency's highest-profile hearings.

Berkower is widely recognized as a leader in the privacy community. She is currently a member of the Information Technology Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and serves on the Advisory Board of the International Association of Privacy Professional's publication, The Privacy Advisor. She graduated from Barnard College, earned her law degree at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional.

Chapell is a member of the DMA's Interactive Marketing Advisory Board, co-chair of the NYC chapter of the IAPP, and co-chair of the Mobile Marketing Association's Privacy and Preferences Committee. Chapell also is a popular columnist and speaker at industry events such as the iMedia Summits, OMMA and IAPP Conferences, and has been instrumental in the development of emerging best practice standards for online marketing and media.
