On October 30, Harris started notifying developers that they are covered under California’s Online Privacy Protection Act, which applies to any service provider that collects information from any Californian, the report states. Harris worked with major platforms such as Google, Microsoft and Apple to bring apps they sell into compliance in February. Developers who do not comply with the law may face fines of up to $2,500 per app download.
