The Washington Post reports on growing concerns about personal privacy in a country that traditionally tends to identify with family and community over individualism. Among several reasons for this shift, the report states, include increased government surveillance; the explosion of online media and the Internet, and the country's biometric identification program. One professor said, "What is changing is that Indians are beginning to demand privacy protection for the information they share digitally, even though they are still not able to articulate a demand for privacy within their families and communities."
