The New York Times explores one woman's efforts to delete her credit card information from a closed account at an online retailer--finding that, in effect, it is impossible. After hearing of large-scale breaches across the Internet, the woman decided that deleting the information from her closed Blockbuster account would be a safe thing to do; however, a response from customer service informed her that the company keeps her information "for accounting purposes" and it "cannot be removed."
