A bill introduced Wednesday by the House Intelligence Committee that has strong support from the telecommunications industry is being met with concerns from the Obama Administration and privacy advocates, The Washington Post reports. The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011 would exempt "private firms from liability" if they share such data as IP addresses detected in hacking incidents with the government, the report states. The bill's sponsors envision such options as sharing information about cyber threats with ISPs. However, a White House spokeswoman has said, "The administration will not support anything that does not include a customized set of requirements for privacy protection."
