After recent data breach incidents involving National Health Service (NHS) Lothian and city council memory sticks, one official wants to see a ban on the devices, the Scotsman reports. Citing the two most recent breaches, NHS Lothian board member Iain Whyte, who is leader of the Conservative group on the city council, is recommending the council follow the health board's lead and institute a blanket ban on memory sticks. "If personal data is still being put on memory sticks, then being lost or stolen, it does beg the question of whether enough is being done," he says. "If there is not a blanket ban on transporting data in that way, then there should be."
