The IAPP Is Growing Again!
As of January, we are pleased to welcome a new member to our publications staff and congratulate several staff members as they transition into new roles within the organization.
Ali Forman, Publications Manager
As the Publications Manager, Ali will work on the Daily Dashboard, The Privacy Advisor and INSIDE 1to1: Privacy newsletters. Her responsibilities also include working closely with the marketing and conference teams to develop new IAPP marketing collateral to support our expanding copywriting needs.
Forman joined the IAPP after four years as a freelance writer and editor, specializing in marketing and communications. Her previous experience includes developing educational and marketing materials for LifeCare Inc., a work/life benefits provider in Westport, Conn., and serving as the managing editor for a small book publisher specializing in alternative medicine.
"I'm thrilled to have joined the IAPP, and I'm looking forward to learning more about the privacy profession," Forman said. "After a number of years as a freelance consultant, I'm excited about working in a team environment in such a dynamic and rapidly growing organization."
Staffing Changes and Promotions
The IAPP is pleased to announce several staffing changes:
Kimberly MacNeill has been promoted to Member Networking Manager, a newly created position on the events team. In her new role, MacNeill oversees KnowledgeNet, Working Groups, Delegate Tours and other member "networking" activities. MacNeill originally joined the IAPP in May 2006 as our Membership Services Coordinator.
MacNeill's background combines more than 10 years of experience in the corporate and not-for-profit sectors. Prior to joining the IAPP, she was a management consultant, specializing in development and communications for not-for-profit organizations. MacNeill's varied background also includes experience in sales and marketing and working as a paralegal for The New York Times.
In 2001, MacNeill graduated from the Wagner School of Public Service at New York University with a Master's of Public Administration (MPA); she earned her undergraduate degree from Roanoke College in Virginia.
Megan Harvick has been promoted to Membership Services Coordinator. Harvick recently joined the IAPP and has quickly proven to be a key contributor to the membership team. In her new capacity, Harvick looks forward to being involved with and getting to know even more members, and she strives to help them appreciate the benefits of IAPP membership and CIPP certification.
Originally from Northern California, Harvick graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in English & Creative Writing. Her background includes roles as a writer for a weekly newsmagazine; an Education & Community Outreach Coordinator for an environmental conservation not-for-profit; and a cartographer/graphic designer specializing in creating maps for vineyards and wineries.
Cortney Sawyer will continue in her role as Special Projects Manager, but will add responsibility for all IAPP audio conferences and our growing catalogue of audio conference CDs.
