Ms. Harman-Stokes is the Chief Privacy Officer at the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission. She is the CFTC’s first CPO, and she serves as the principal advocate within the CFTC for ensuring the protection of privacy across all CFTC programs, protecting personal information of CFTC staff, CFTC-regulated market participants, whistleblowers and victims of fraud worldwide. She is responsible for all ongoing privacy program activities, and advises CFTC staff and senior leaders concerning compliance with the Privacy Act of 1974, FISMA, E-Government Act, ECPA, RFPA, GLBA, international data protection laws and other requirements. She co-chairs the CIO Council Privacy Committee’s Innovation & Emerging Technology Subcommittee. Before joining the CFTC, she oversaw the privacy program at the company that owns the GMAT exam, and was an attorney at Hogan & Hartson. She attended the U.Va. School of Law. She is a CIPP/US, CIPP/G.
