The Practical Privacy Series returned to Washington, DC this year with more programming than ever before. Our sold out event on December 7–8, dedicated two full days to the Federal Trade Commission and consumer privacy. With enormous changes at the FTC, including the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the release of a report on online privacy, this event offered a unique insiders’ view of the implications for privacy professionals.

Then on December 9, we held an intensive workshop for government privacy professionals, with a special focus on privacy and transparency, and practical training on meeting the requirments of the Open Government Directive.

Both events offered attendees the opportunity to engage with public and private sector privacy experts, dive into operational challenges and understand the contours of the new regulatory approaches and new laws that affect their work in the field of privacy.

Thank you to everyone who made these programs such a success!
