Chuck Cosson, CIPP/US

Senior Corporate Counsel, Privacy
T-Mobile

Chuck Cosson is Senior Corporate Counsel- Privacy for T-Mobile US, based in Bellevue, WA.

Chuck helps T-Mobile US with oversight of privacy compliance and compliance programs, and with legal advice on business strategy, investigations, security, and breach response.  He also supports privacy outreach, public policy, and communications work related to privacy. 

Before coming to T-Mobile in 2011, Chuck was Senior Policy Counsel at Microsoft Corporation, where he was a primary policy counsel support for Microsoft's Trustworthy Computing and worldwide government affairs teams. Chuck played a key role in Microsoft's policy communications, citizenship and CSR initiatives, including helping to create and launch the Global Network Initiative and the US-China Internet Industry Forum. 

Prior to Microsoft, Chuck was VP for Public Policy in Vodafone's Americas/Asia region. There, he led the company's public policy efforts in the U.S. and contributed to policy and CSR work in China, Japan, Mexico, Canada and Brazil. On behalf of Vodafone, Chuck chaired the policy team at the Liberty Alliance, where he was active on identity management and privacy issues. Chuck also worked on public policy matters at AirTouch Communications and at the United States Telephone Association in Washington, D.C.

Chuck received a B.A., cum laude from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, and a J.D., with honors, from the George Washington University law school. He is a native of Washington, D.C., and is married with two children. Chuck has published a novel entitled Whitewash, a political satire written under the pseudonym Erik Blair.
