Group Data Protection Officer
Today, Jyn Schultze-Melling is the chief privacy officer of the Allianz group, a multinational corporation with a core business in insurance and financial services. Just prior, he headed the employee privacy division of Deutsche Bahn AG, a major multinational transportation and logistics group with nearly 300.000 employees worldwide. To join Deutsche Bahn, Schultze-Melling left his position as a partner with Noerr LLP, one of the leading international and independent law firms of German origin. There, he advised on a broad range of information technology-related subjects and on all kinds of privacy, security and IT compliance issues.
Apart from his commitment to the IAPP and the German Association for Data Protection and Data Security (GDD), Schultze-Melling is also an active member of the German Bar Association’s Information Technology section (DAVIT) and the German Association for Law and Informatics (DGRI). He studied law and earned his PhD at the University of Freiburg and completed his master’s degree in IT and telecommunications law at the Strath-clyde University of Glasgow, UK.
