These two workshops address eHealth Risk Management, Privacy & Security. Government and Canada Health Infoway (CHI) sponsored eHealth projects require that privacy, security and risk management programs are in place. These workshops are designed to help organizations meet their privacy, security and risk management obligations. These workshops give participants the knowledge, tools and skills required to assess, mitigate and manage eHealth privacy, security, safety, project and business risks.

This one-day intensive participatory workshop explores the knowledge, skills and tools needed to develop and implement an innovative eHealth risk-benefits management program in a health organization. The eHealth Risk Workshop leverages best practices in risk management and benefits realization. The goal of this workshop is to help the participants realize the benefits of eHealth while taking an integrated approach to privacy, security, safety, project and business risk management when implementing and managing eHealth systems. Participants learn the fundamentals of eHealth risk management and how to implement an integrated program to manage privacy, security, safety, project and business risks.

This two-day workshop provides knowledge, skills and tools needed to develop, implement and manage a comprehensive privacy and security program in your health organization. The workshop features online lectures from noted privacy and security experts and hands-on workshop activities providing the knowledge, skills and tools needed to protect personal health information. It is designed to help eHealth, privacy and security professionals in or serving healthcare organizations how to:

  • protect the privacy rights of patients and clients by meeting their obligations under privacy legislation and applying best practices to information privacy management.
  • implement a privacy program in your organization and how to kick-start your Privacy Impact Assessment.
  • develop and implement eHealth systems by ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of personal health information and life-critical information systems.
  • implement an information security management program to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of health information, and the fundamentals of conducting a Threat and Risk Assessment.
