Rosemary Jay is a senior attorney at Hunton & Williams. She was previously head of information law at Pinsent Masons, having been head of legal at the UK supervisory authority for 12 years before that. Jay has been consistently recognized as one of the top data protection lawyers in the UK in “band 1” by Chambers and partners. Her practice covers all areas of information law including access, interception and surveillance. She has extensive international experience. In addition to conducting international compliance projects, she has led a team drafting a privacy law for an overseas jurisdiction and worked with the Council of Europe, the European Commission and the Commonwealth Secretariat in West Africa.
Jay is the author of the leading textbook Data Protection Law & Practice, and an editor of the Encyclopedia of Data Protection and Privacy. She speaks frequently, is a regular contributor to journals, conferences and workshops, and sits on a number of advisory bodies in the area of privacy and data protection.
