KnowledgeNet Chair Roles and Expectations

 

KnowledgeNet is a dynamic series of free networking and educational meetings providing members an opportunity to informally gather, share experiences, make acquaintances and network with peers in their local area. KnowledgeNet Chairs are responsible for organizing at least three meetings per year featuring a presentation by an expert on a timely privacy topic and/or interactive discussions.


KnowledgeNet Chair Expectations

KnowledgeNet Chairs are expected to:

  • Secure dynamic educational speakers
  • Facilitate networking among meeting attendees
  • Work with local organizations to provide meeting space
  • Be advocates for the IAPP and promote its KnowledgeNet program


Commitment

KnowledgeNet Chairs are required to:

  • Serve a two-year term
  • Organize at least three meetings per year


Selection criteria

There are typically four KnowledgeNet Chairs per location, balanced, to the extent possible, by experience, industry sector and location. Considerations for selection include:

  • Current IAPP membership in good standing (maintained throughout term)
  • Recent KnowledgeNet meeting attendance
  • Existing or past leadership roles within the IAPP
  • CIPP or CIPM certification is an advantage
  • IAPP conference attendance
