Chief Privacy Officer
Sari Ratican is Amgen’s chief privacy officer, responsible for leading Amgen’s global privacy program which promotes the compliant collection and processing of personal information across Amgen’s enterprise and functions.
Ratican joined Amgen in 2002 as an attorney in Amgen’s Global Commercial Operations Law Group where she was instrumental in initiating Amgen’s U.S.–based privacy program. For over 15 years her career has focused on the health care industry across a broad range of disciplines including privacy/data protection, corporate law, fraud and abuse, compliance and ethics. Prior to joining Amgen, Ratican was in private practice as a corporate healthcare lawyer and was also legislative counsel for the American Medical Association’s Government Relations Department where she worked with national and state professional medical associations on various legislative matters both at the state and federal level.
Ratican, a Certified Information Privacy Professional, is involved in several global privacy and data protection organizations including the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the International Pharmaceutical Privacy Consortium and the Center for Law, Ethics and Applied Research in Health Information.
She graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in English literature cum laude. Knowing she wanted to pursue an advanced degree in health care law and bioethics she earned her JD and LLM in healthcare law from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, IL. During her time at DePaul she was the managing editor of the Journal of Health Care Law. Ratican is admitted to practice law in California and Illinois.
