Melissa Krasnow is a corporate/securities partner at Dorsey & Whitney LLP in Minneapolis whose practice encompasses privacy, electronic and mobile commerce, social media, Internet, corporate governance and compliance law as well as domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
She serves on the Certification Advisory Board for the CIPP/US program and the Canadian Advisory Board.
Krasnow counsels clients on U.S. nationwide (for example, state privacy laws, HIPAA and the HITECH Act) laws and global data breaches, including investigations and notifications to domestic and foreign regulators and individuals.
She advises clients on navigating and complying with state, U.S. federal and international laws surrounding privacy, advertising and marketing, securities, corporate governance, anti-money laundering, payment and gift cards, as well as industry laws and standards.
Krasnow counsels clients on corporate, privacy, regulatory and industry compliance and on risk assessment. She reviews and prepares privacy (including website and mobile application), mobile device, text message, social media, corporate and technology policies and agreements. She also reviews cyber liability insurance policies and SEC disclosures.
She advises on the transfer of information in mergers and acquisitions, conducts privacy due diligence and prepares privacy provisions in agreements and disclosure schedules.
Krasnow holds an AB in Chinese studies and political science from Wellesley College and a JD from Northwestern University School of Law. She also attended the University of British Columbia.
